Cybersecurity Services for Los Angeles Businesses

SiegePal is a cybersecurity and AI engineering company based in San Diego. This page explains our cybersecurity services for Los Angeles software as a service (SaaS) companies and regulated businesses. It is written for teams whose product is a web application, an application programming interface (API), or both. The page covers testing the application, securing the cloud it runs on, and preparing for the frameworks customers ask about.

For the statewide view of these services, see our page on cybersecurity services for California businesses.

When the Application Is the Product

Security requests can come through sales as well as engineering. A prospective customer sends a questionnaire asking for a recent penetration test. Taking card payments raises the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). An enterprise buyer asks whether you are working toward System and Organization Controls 2 (SOC 2).

Each request needs a different kind of evidence. This page explains which service produces it and what you receive at the end.

Application Penetration Testing

Penetration testing of a web application looks for the weaknesses an attacker would use. Testing covers the OWASP Top 10, the Open Worldwide Application Security Project’s list of common web risks. It also covers business logic, API security, authentication bypass, and session handling. Mobile apps on iOS and Android can be tested too.

Choosing a Testing Approach

In black box testing, the tester starts with public information only, as an outside attacker would. Grey box testing adds partial knowledge, usually user credentials and some architecture context. White box testing provides source code, architecture documentation, and system credentials for the deepest review.

Grey box suits many web applications because it shows what a logged-in user, or an attacker holding stolen credentials, could reach.

What the Report Contains

You receive an executive summary for leadership and technical findings for engineers. Findings carry Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) severity scores, reproduction steps, and proof-of-concept evidence. A remediation roadmap orders fixes by risk, and a retest validation report confirms what was fixed. When a framework drives the test, the report is structured around that framework’s evidence requirements.

Cloud Security Behind the Application

The cloud account behind the application needs attention too. Cloud security engineering reviews identity and access management (IAM), network configuration, encryption, key management, and logging in Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud. Outputs include a cloud security posture report and security baseline configurations.

Cloud penetration testing goes further and attempts what an attacker would try. That includes abusing IAM misconfigurations, reaching exposed storage, misusing serverless functions, and pivoting between accounts. Testing stays within each cloud provider’s rules, and providers are notified where their terms require it.

Compliance Readiness for Customer and Payment Requirements

PCI DSS

PCI DSS readiness starts by mapping every system, person, and process that stores, processes, or transmits cardholder data. A gap assessment against the applicable requirements follows, with a prioritized remediation roadmap. SiegePal can also support control implementation and assemble the evidence that shows readiness.

SOC 2 and HIPAA

SOC 2 examinations assess controls at service organizations. An independent certified public accountant (CPA) firm performs the examination and issues the report. SOC 2 readiness compares your controls with the Trust Services Criteria and produces a control matrix and remediation roadmap. SiegePal prepares you for the examination but does not perform it.

If your application handles protected health information, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) may be relevant. Our HIPAA compliance work produces a risk assessment report and remediation roadmap based on your live infrastructure.

Evidence From Delivered Work

Our security portfolio and client testimonials describe delivered work. These examples show relevant capabilities and do not imply Los Angeles-based clients.

Fortech Products credits SiegePal with implementing Transport Layer Security (TLS) and single sign-on (SSO) in its products.

For a confidential enterprise cloud analytics platform, SiegePal assessed controls against PCI DSS and the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP). The assessment used live infrastructure evidence, and SiegePal fixed the gaps inside the platform.

How an Engagement Runs

Set Testing Boundaries

We begin by discussing the application, customer request, or compliance deadline driving the work. Scoping defines the targets, testing approach, authorized activities, and communication plan. Testing windows and a named contact help coordinate the engagement with your releases.

Connect Securely

Testing and engineering work are delivered remotely from a secure working environment. If private systems need to be reached, we can use a virtual private network (VPN) or another approved secure access method. Access arrangements are agreed before testing begins.

Report and Verify

Findings are documented with evidence and a prioritized remediation roadmap. Your engineers can implement fixes, or SiegePal can carry out remediation when included in scope. Targeted retesting checks the fixes and produces a validation report.

Questions Los Angeles Buyers Ask

How do you plan testing around our releases?

Testing windows and communication protocols are agreed before testing begins. A named contact on your side handles unexpected findings or scope questions, and your environment should stay in its normal operating state.

Will the report satisfy a customer’s or auditor’s request?

When a framework drives the test, scoping targets that framework’s requirement and the report follows its evidence needs. Whether a particular customer or auditor accepts it is their decision.

Can you test our mobile app as well as the web app?

Yes. Mobile testing covers iOS and Android apps, including how they store data locally and how they talk to your API.
